Is Agave Good for You?
If you are trying to stay away from fructose, the answer is no! Why? Because fructose is considered by many to be the single most damaging form of sugar. The fructose found naturally in fruits is different than the fructose added to foods to increase sweetness. This is because fructose is only harmful in large amounts and it's almost impossible to overeat fructose by eating fruit.
Fructose is only metabolized in the liver so diets high in added fructose can lead to fatty liver disease and a variety of other health problems. Interestingly, agave has the highest fructose content of any commercial sweetener on the market! Something to think about.
