One Simple Trick to make you Happier
Do you want to feel happier...express gratitude! Expressing gratitude has a greater effect on happiness than you could ever imagine. Many researchers have studied gratitude and they all consistently show that gratitude has a significant and lasting effect on happiness.
In one study, a group of participants wrote about things they were grateful for that had occurred during the week. The other two groups either wrote about things that bothered them or wrote about events that had a neutral effect on their lives. After 10 weeks, the group who expressed gratitude were more optimistic and felt better about their lives...that is not too surprising. But what is even more interesting is the "gratitude" group also exercised more and had fewer visits to physicians. So, this study suggests that practicing gratitude can even impact your health. So, what can you do to express gratitude?
1) Write a thank you note
2) Thank someone mentally
3) Write in a gratitude journal
4) Express things you are grateful for with your family at dinner
5) Meditate or pray
All of these are simple things you can do today to express gratitude and feel happier.
