Aromatherapy is popular right now and we all know that when you smell something good you feel good. But did you know that there is real science to back that up? In one study, researchers applied rose oil to the skin of one group and a placebo to another group of healthy volunteers and then measured their vitals. The rose oil group had lower blood pressures, a lower breathing rate and expressed an overall sense if calm and relaxation when compared to the placebo group. One study even showed that inhalation of rose oil reduced cortisol levels (cortisol is a stress hormone). So next time you have a crazy day at work, get some rose oil to relax and feel better. It works!
