Pregnancy Skincare

I was so excited to hear the news about the #royalbaby Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are expecting in the spring. Meghan is glowing and has such flawless skin but many women are not so fortunate. Acne during pregnancy is common, especially during the first trimester. I have talked about acne products and pregnancy before but here is a quick summary:

  • Generally recognized as safe in pregnancy- azelaic acid, tea tree oil, green tea, lactic acid, microdermabrasion and blue light.

  • Dermatologist recognized as safe in pregnancy – sulfur, benzoyl peroxide, and glycolic acid.

  • Products and treatments to avoid in pregnancy – retinoids, salicylic acid and most chemical peels.

On a personal note, I had pretty significant acne during my first pregnancy and it was a challenge.  Did any of you have to deal with acne while pregnant? Share your story in the comments.
