Where Vanilla Comes From

Did you know vanilla comes from an orchid?

The vanilla orchid is actually very hard to grow. It takes 3 years for the orchid to produce the long bean pods that we know as vanilla beans. Even after they are harvested, vanilla pods have to be cured for 6 weeks and then dried for 6 months.

That's a lot of work but definitely worth it!
