What is Microblading?

The beauty forecast says thick eyebrows are all the rage! If your eyebrows are looking a bit thin, never fear! Microblading can offer a great solution. But what exactly does this process involve? Read on to find out.

Microblading is a type of eyebrow architecture which works to create the best shape for your face. It uses a pen-like tool with a tip that has a sloped blade with 10-12 little needles at the end. The needles don’t penetrate the skin but scratch the surface to finely implant a medical grade pigment on the skin giving the appearance of realistic, natural hair.

Although this process may sound a bit like tattooing, there are differences between the two. Unlike tattooing, microblading when done correctly does not penetrate the deep layer of the skin. It is also temporary with color that fades within 12-18 months. When done correctly, the strokes tend to look more natural compared to a dark heavy eyebrow tattoo.

Microblading is a bit of a process with a touch up session required 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment. Touch ups are also necessary to maintain the color once it starts fading. After care is necessary and full healing can take up to 30 days. Once healing is complete, the final shape and color of the brows will be revealed.

Numbing may be necessary in the microblading process, but the overall procedure is not painful. The entire process can take up to 2 hours and will cost around $400 to 700.
