Things You Need To KNOW About MELASMA

What is melasma?

What is melasma? Dr. Heather board-certified dermatologist with the answer. Melasma usually starts as dark patches on the cheeks but it can also affect the upper lip, the forehead, and even sometimes the nose. Sometimes, I'll even see it on people's arms. It is often caused by hormonal changes. I see it often in pregnant women or when people are taking birth control and it definitely gets worse with any sun exposure. If you have melasma there are great treatments available check out DermFriends for more information.
