National Women Day 2020

This weekend, I lectured at IMCAS, a large international dermatology meeting in Paris. I never imagined when I started my journey to become a physician that I would be flying around the globe to lecture to an international audience.

Today on National Women Physicians Day, I want to remind women pursuing a career in medicine that all of the time, sacrifice, and sleepless nights do pay off. It's a long journey but it's worth it.

National Women Physicians Day honors the first woman physician in the United States, Elizabeth Blackwell. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, another pioneer in medicine, was the first African-American woman to become a physician in the United States. My career journey could never have happened without female pioneers in medicine like Dr. Blackwell and Dr. Crumpler. I am so grateful to all of the female physicians who have paved the way to allow me to be where I am today.
